What inspired you to write cozy mysteries?
I was inspired by my early love of the Nancy Drew mysteries my mother gave me at Christmas, combined with my fascination for ghostly tales my father slipped me when Mom wasn’t looking. The charm of cozy settings I discovered on my own!
Writing cozy mysteries allows me to blend suspense with lighthearted humor, creating stories for myself that happen to resonate with readers who enjoy supernatural elements.
How do you develop your characters?
I develop my characters by drawing from real-life experiences, always remembering that each character is the hero of their own story.
I took an acting class in college where we were each assigned to observe and present the quirks of people around us. So, be careful! You never know if I am watching you…
What themes do you explore in your books?
My books promote themes of family, friendship, courage, and the supernatural. I aim to juxtapose images of eerie atmospheres and lighthearted moments. Animals, and their sensitivity to the otherworld, are always invited in.
Are your books suitable for all ages?
While my books are primarily targeted at teens and young adults, they are suitable for older readers as well. The themes are crafted to be engaging, never graphic. They are wholesome and accessible to a wide audience.
